For Duran Barr, an ambassador for Dark Seas and founder of North County Surf Academy, summer is an exhilarating adventure filled with learning and connection to the ocean. Duran's day starts at dawn, with the fresh scent of salt in the air. At the academy, he shares his love for surfing with eager surfers of all ages, fostering their confidence with patience and encouragement. Whether teaching newcomers or seasoned surfers, he instills a deep respect for the ocean. After morning sessions, Duran relaxes at Shoots Fish and Beer, a vibrant hub for surf culture. Surrounded by fellow surfers, they share stories over delicious food and drinks. The day continues with exhilarating pier sessions, where camaraderie and friendly competition thrive. Duran often partners with fellow Dark Seas rider Sky Allen, pushing each other to new heights. To escape the summer crowds, Duran enjoys solo outings on his ski, exploring secluded waters and finding tranquility in nature. As dusk falls, he reflects on his day's adventures, sharing moments through photography and social media to inspire his community. As a proud ambassador for Dark Seas, Duran advocates for ocean preservation and responsible surf culture, encouraging others to protect the waters they love.
